El Día Mundial de los Humedales encuentra a la República Dominicana en proceso de revaloración de estos ecosistemas. A través de un comunicado de prensa, el director de Prisiones dijo que investigan los hechos para establecer responsabilidades entre las autoridades.

Asimismo dijo que proporciona todas las informaciones a las autoridades policiales e investigativas con la finalidad de que la seguridad de la ciudadanía esté garantizada.

Con respecto a los actos delincuenciales que puedan provenir de las personas privadas de libertad recluidas en cualquiera de los recintos del país, “hemos insistido en la realización de requisas periódicas con la intención de incautar armas, drogas y celulares”.

Aseguró que en los últimos cinco meses han incautado centenares de celulares, con lo que evitan que más privados de libertad desde las cárceles cometan acciones reñidas con la ley en contra de la población.

Precisó que las acciones recientemente cometidas por internos del Centro de Privación de Libertad de San Francisco de Macorís, son un reflejo de la problemática que aún persiste en las cárceles.
